Wedding Cakes

On your wedding day the cake forms a focal part of the day, when the Bride and Groom cut the cake and photographs are taken. On your "Big Day" you will be making very happy and everlasting memories, and we want to be part of that by producing your perfect wedding cake.

Each of the selection of designs shown here can be adapted and altered to your own individual requirements, colours can be changed, number of tiers, flavour/type of cake and/or top decoration.  If you have your own ideas or a picture of a design, we will do our utmost to create it for you. Choosing your wedding Cake

Whether it’s a Birthday, Anniversary, Wedding, Civil Partnership, or any other special Celebration, there are a number of questions to be considered, when choosing your cake and before placing your order.  Here are some to help you with your final choice:

  • What shape of cake is required ?
  • Do you require sponge or fruit based wedding cake(s) ?
  • Do you want mini-cakes or cup cakes?
  • What size of wedding cake(s) do you need considering how many servings are required ? Have a look at our servings chart.
  • What kind of cake covering is to be used, chocolate or sugar paste (smooth rolled out icing) ?
  • If sugar paste is used then what colour, maybe to match your wedding attire/dress or flowers, or that of your bridesmaids?
  • Would you like flower sprays incorporated into your design, if so, what colour and type ?

Cake Coverings

Cakes are available either covered with satin smooth sugar paste icing,  or melt in the mouth rich glossy  dark chocolate/mocha icing.
When  the  cakes have been covered they can then be beautifully decorated with frills roses ribbons iced butterflies or bells, or delicately worked with a pretty design. 

Various  attractive, simple  and understated contemporary designs are also available.

Flowers

Beautiful  and unusual arrangements can be made from silk flowers which, strategically placed, can dramatically enhance your  cake.

Flower arrangements crafted from sugar paste can look absolutely stunning and can be kept as a keepsake of your special day. A special orders of fresh flowers can also transform your Wedding cake design.

**Please note for reasons of hygiene all fresh flowers are arranged in oasis within a protective base  to avoid direct contact with the cake surface.

Cutting the Cake

Wedding cake is traditionally served in 2.5 cm/1in square pieces, or 5cm x 2.5 cm/ 2 x 1in slices.  If the cake is for a very large gathering, either a wedding  or some other function or celebration, then the number of servings required can be made up by ordering an additional large square cake, which will not be fully decorated but can be covered with the same basic icing as the original cake.

This spare cake is particularly useful at weddings as it can be cut in the kitchens, ready to bring out immediately the main tier of the displayed cake is taken away for cutting. 

This trick will ensure that there is plenty of cake for all the guests present and for posting to others who are absent.
